Nashville Shopping Adventure

On July 16th Mom and I took off work and headed to Nashville to do what we do best... shop!!! We both have been "out of the mood" lately, so I'm not sure what is wrong with us, but we got a yearly dose in one day! We left at 9am, drove to Bowling Green to run in Kohls, but first I wanted to fuel up, check my tire pressure, and clean my windshield. Since I wanted to get this gas station event over and done with so we could continue on our shopping spree, I asked Mom to pump my gas and I would check my tires and take care of my filthy windshield. All of a sudden, I hear Mom say, "I can't get this gas cap off." I walked over and tried. I thought she turned it the wrong direction and it was on too tight, but it wasn't. I could not turn it AT ALL. A man working at the gas station had been watching (great) and came over to see what problem we were having. He tried for a minute or two and low and behold... he just had to lift up. WHAT?! We were turning with all our might and all it needed was a lift? We laughed so hard, which wasn't the last time for the day! We shopped at Kohl's and headed back down I-65 South. Finally, almost to Opry Mills Mall. This was my first time in this mall. I had been to the Opry show and the ICE! sculpture during Christmas, which are in this area, but not the mall. How weird for me, right? We went in with the handy dandy map I printed off, which we pulled out ONCE, and began in the Apple Barn store/restaurant. Their stuff was so country and adorable! I didn't find much at all in the stores, but found myself wrapped up in Black Lion. This store was like a mini peddlers mall. It was all new items, but there were so many different cubicles/booths. I had so much fun looking in there. They have a lot of home decoration items, polka dot wallets, purses, pictures, baby stuff, oh my! HOLD UP! While looking in this store, I came to a strange conclusion... am I becoming a more domesticated lady?? NO... I am having more fun looking at home stuff than clothing! That's when it hit me... well, enough of that! Umm humm... Mom drug me out of there (no, not kicking and screaming), but close... she was hungry. OK, I was, too, but I was in an amazing store. We looked at a few more places and crashed our hungry booties in TGIFridays! Boy was that good. Once we got our belly's full, we headed to the few stores left and dragged butt to the car. We were wore out. On the way home, we had to stop to buy paint for Rex. My Tom Tom could not locate a Home Depot or Lowes in BG, so we went to Wal Mart and there stood Lowes. Great idea, Mom! A man helped us put the 5 gallon bucket of paint in the small back seat of an overloaded shopping bag Mustang... Thanks for the help! I had to check out their Target and bought more stuff and Mom tried on some hot bathing suits! Finally back in the car and it was Mom's turn to drive and make a pit stop in Munfordville at Sonic for Rex. Mom ordered a slushie so she wanted me to take over again. When we switched, there was a couple watching our every move. I bet they thought I was some 16 year old begging my mother to drive the Mustang. That made me feel young again... because I do remember those times. Our adventure was definitely entertaining, as I had to leave out some details, but we were glad to be home at nearly 10pm. I am so thankful we still have the best time together and hope to continue making great memories as mother and daughter. Maybe I'll add a little girl to the picture someday to make the adventure even more entertaining and interesting. And, if it's a boy, he will just have to learn to shop with mommy and (whatever Mom wants to be called) on occasion!

Overcome & Conquered

On July 19th, Micah and I decided to head down to my grandparent's farm in Shiboley after church. He had been dropping hints that he would like for me to shoot some of his guns. I, on the other hand, tried to drown out his urges by smiling and giving a little giggle. I do not like guns! I realize guns don't "kill" people, it's the person standing on the other side of the GUN with their finger on the trigger that does. The older I get, the more I notice the world is a pretty dangerous place (at least some of the people in it), and watching the news sure doesn't help. I want to be able to defend myself, family and future family in the need of an emergency situation. After pondering this gun issue and the need for safety, I was determined to overcome my little fear of guns and conquer the task of shooting them!!! Quite frankly, it was pretty FUN! And, I'm not too bad on the targets. First I shot a 22 pistol, then a 45mm, then a 30-30 rifle. Granted I would let out a little yelp when I shot, but I hit the target! Yeah, I missed some, but I made it several times... upon my amazement. I was really concerned about shooting the 30-30, because I have seen what rifles can do to the middle of someones eyes! We debated for a while about me shooting this gun. I would ask, "Is it going to hit me between my eyes and kick my shoulder?" He continually assured me that it would not kick. I was NOT buying that. Low and behold, I had a pullover with me and I put it on my shoulder to prevent any bruising and I held my head so far back from the scope that he had to laugh. I could still see!!! I shot it and was amazed that he was right on the money... no kick, no scar in between my eyes, and my shoulder felt mighty fine. I was also right on target! I was given a lesson before all of this happened on how to load, re-load, how to stand, how to hold it, and all of that important stuff. Now that he has seen what a pro I am... Micah wants me to get my concealed carry permit. He already has his, so now I'm considering it... upon one condition. He has to go with me. I very proud that I overcome the fear and now know how to defend myself.

Joe Huber Family Farm

Micah and I headed to Starlight, IN on Wednesday to Joe Huber Family Farm. We hit some heavy rain and were stuck in traffic due to an accident, but once we crossed the bridge, the sun popped out! It was wonderful. We went to the Orchard and Winery first so we could take the 2:00 wine tour. They explained the process their wine goes through, how it's bottled, where they keep them, and then we done a little wine tasting! Then, we rode on a wagon to pick some strawberries and relaxed by the pond watching the ducks. We acted like young children, too... we slid down the slide and climbed the steps up the silo to look out over the farm. We took several pictures, which I will post. After relaxing, we decided to go grab supper at the Huber Restaurant. There was so much food and it was all delicious. I made strawberry pie on Thursday and boy was it good!!! Micah had never been before so it was nice to experience his first time there with him. Hopefully we can return in the fall, because it is very pretty then, too. I bet Christmas is really fascinating with tons of decorations!!! Most of all, it was a full day we spent together, just like we were on vacation! That doesn't happen much with his schedule and with me being in school... it was a wonderful day in paradise!

My Birthday!

Today... I turned a "quarter of a century" old! I teased Micah about being a "quarter of a century" when he had his birthday last June. I had a surprise dinner outing last year and invited all of his friends... and told them all to tell him "Happy Quarter of a Century!" It was a great time. This year we are having a cookout for the both of our birthdays since they are so close together. This morning, as soon as the alarm went off, and without missing a beat, he rolled over and said, "Happy Birthday!" But, I didn't make it out of the house without "now you're a quarter of a century, too," it was even in my card! I love having cute, little sayings like that! It makes for great memories.

I had dinner with my Mom, Rex, and Micah last night at Whistle Stop in Glendale... yummy! They have the best bread ever! Then on Saturday, Micah is taking me to Olive Garden. This will only be my second time, I'm really excited.

Memorial Day

I had a great weekend. Micah and I hung out with Dad and his girlfriend Saturday. We played in the creek at Shiboley and took a ton of pictures... coming soon. Daniel and I played there when we were little so it brought back a lot of great memories. I was a little disappointed b/c it has changed tremendously... We didn't even get the monster truck dirty b/c the creeks have been filled with rock/concrete/bridges. Blah! We went to several cookouts and Micah found out that I am not the best at the game HORSE! I did hit the rim or backboard more than not, so I was happy. We played cornhole... and we still need practice! Then on Sunday night we gathered with other 4 wheelers and rode until after midnight. It was a great time! I am sore from holding on and lifting my legs up so we could ride through the creeks. I love creek riding... but we got hung on a log and the 4 wheeler tipped a little. I was hovering over the water holding on to Micah, I was almost SOAKED! It was a great night for riding. I haven't been much lately b/c I have been studying for school... so I had a good time. As we are planning for our birthday cookout, we are hoping to have the garage complete and the addition to the deck. The garage needs a few finishing touches and the deck... hasn't been started. If it's not done before then, no big deal. At least we'll have a bigger deck later.

Newbie

Well, I decided to start blogging! I barely have time to study for school, update myspace and facebook, scrapbook, hang out with family and friends, and do the things I really want, but I'll give it a try! Maybe if I can express myself through blogging, the better I can sort out my crazy life.
